“Spetsneftegaz” NPO” JSC, Ural division (science & production company), Ekaterinburg, Russia

“Spetsneftegaz” occupies the leading position in Russia in the area of domestic and foreign gas pipelines flaw detection services with the use of intelligent magnetic detectors (pigs).

Duties: develop an artificial intelligence system allowing to automatize interpretation of the gas pipelines flaw detection signals; automatic reconstruction of gas pipelines in the form of mathematical models based on inspection results

    - developed a computer vision system for the interpretation of two-dimensional magnetic and ultrasonic signals, surpassing all the well-known Russian and foreign analogues according to its economic and qualitative characteristics (C++, T-SQL)

    - carried out extensive research work in the area of processing and identification of magnetic and ultrasonic signals. The research results were used as a basis for the PhD thesis

    - developed algorithms for processing, filtration and identification of two-dimensional signals based on the methods of Fourier, wavelet, contour, statistical and cluster analysis, mathematical morphology methods, etc

    - implemented methods of automatic pattern recognition invariant to translation, rotation and scaling transformations

    - introduced a more effective and labour-saving signal processing technology allowing to reduce the processing time

    - developed a number of client software products, software tools and utilities including:

    - a library of signal processing algorithms implementing basic functionality for one- and two-dimensional arbitrary signal identification and processing

    - programs for signal characteristics research and testing of the methods of signal processing

    - programs for viewing and editing of automatic signal identification results

    - programs for artificial synthesis of signals

    - libraries of signals and the library control system

    - full-scale string data type for WinAPI

    - class for access to MS SQL Server via OLEDB API

    - developed an MS SQL database topology fragment

    - conducted training courses for users

    - conducted a number of intracorporate scientific and technical seminars on signal processing

    - participated in regional and Russian conferences on signal processing and nondestructive testing
